Samantha Aldana is a Belizean-American visual artist based in Los Angeles. Working across painting, mixed media, and experimental film, her practice explores abstraction, atmosphere, and emotion through the lens of magical realism, spiritualism, and folklore.

Aldana’s studio practice spans oil and acrylic painting, collage, film photography, and time-based media. Drawn to the intangible and unseen, her work investigates mythology and the subtle forces that exist beneath the surface of everyday life.

Her background in filmmaking informs her visual arts practice through a cinematic approach to composition, texture, pacing, and mood, creating immersive narratives that feel both intimate and otherworldly.

Aldana is the illustrator of Zoo Krewe (Arcadia Publishing), written by Kelly Murtagh, alongside several other children’s books.

She is also the founder of Mayalune Rising, an arts initiative dedicated to expanding access to creative education through workshops, mentorship, and community-centered programming that supports youth and emerging artists in discovering and developing their creative voice.
